This sophisticated new interface facilitates connection to USB audio devices, data storage devices and Apple iPod®*. The Media Device Interface (MDI) allows audio files to be operated via the in-dash audio system without the need to input controls via the media device itself. The MDI system also provides a charging function.

White illumination emanates from behind the 3-spoke steering wheel, and is aesthetically pleasing and easy to read in a variety of lighting conditions. The Multi- Function Display informs the driver of essential information during your journey.

The superbly quiet cabin can be a tranquil place or the perfect venue for turning up the RCD310 audio system m– creating a high quality audio experience in every seat. An auxiliary audio input socket for MP3 player adaptability can be found in the centre console.

At first glance the Golf promises exhilaration, at second glance reassurance: beneath the bold exterior is a comprehensive range of safety systems, designed to protect you and your passengers.

Electronic Stabilisation Program (ESP)

ESP helps ensure that the vehicle goes where you steer it, even in extreme driving conditions. The ESP system constantly compares the actual movement of the vehicle with carefully pre-determined values. Should a situation arise in which the vehicle starts to skid, ESP will apply the brakes to individual wheels and automatically adjust the engine’s power output to correct the problem. It also minimises the likelihood of spinning off on a curve due to understeering or oversteering.

Designed to reduce injury.

A seventh airbag protects the driver’s knees - in addition to dual front, side, curtain airbags – offering a full-body cushioning to reduce physical stress. In addition, the Golf boasts safety optimised front head restraints. These combined with enhanced seatback contours, help to reduce whiplash injuries.

Our innovative TSI single and twincharged petrol engines boast lower fuel consumption and emissions, combined with excellent torque and power output. Using turbocharged and direct petrol injection technology; the 1.4 litre engines available in our 90TSI Trendline and 118TSI Comfortline* models and the 2.0 litre models and the 2.0 litre engines available in our GTI and R models provide you innovative technology at an affordable price.

The 103TDI Comfortline and GTD models come turbocharged with common rail diesel technology; precise amounts of fuel are injected at an exceedingly high pressure to deliver impressive torque with exceptional fuel economy. While the clever diesel particulate filter helps to curb CO2 emissions. The result? A cleaner burning engine, with that compelling Volkswagen performance.

Seamless transitions.

It cleverly pre-selects your next gear, then transfers power in only 3-4/100ths of a second. That's a whole lot quicker than the time it takes to say it. And you don’t need to worry about rollbacks when you’re on a slope. The DSG’s Hill Start Assist holds the Golf in place for 1.5 seconds on any incline greater than 5 percent when the foot brake is released, giving you enough time to make a smooth start.

* DSG transmission is optional for 90TSI Trendline, 118TSI Comfortline, GTD, GTI and R. It is standard for 103TDI Comfortline models.

Optimum balance.

An optional addition to your driving comfort, Adaptive Chassis Control* automatically adjusts suspension, achieving optimum balance between handling and driving comfort.

Manoueverability.

Park Assist enables automated steering functionality while reversing into a parking space parallel to the road. You simply control the accelerator pedal, brake and clutch while the vehicle steers into a pre-measured space. Whenever you manually intervene in the steering process, the Park Assist function is deactivated.

* Parking distance sensors, OPS (Optical Parking System) and automatic kerb function are features supplied with the Park Assist option. These features are standard for Golf R however Park Assist functionality is not available. Park Assist is also not available for the Golf 77TSI model.
