Classic Golf designInstantly recognisable, the Golf Cabriolet shares a number of stylish design features with the rest of the Golf range. Following the family lines, the Golf Cabriolet shares the familiar horizontal front grille, elegant headlight design and daytime driving lights as the rest of the Golf family. This also includes the upper grille with its chrome highlights and integrated front fog lights.

Cabriolet soft top

The innovative, fully-automatic 3-layer fabric roof features a heated glass rear window housed within its Z-folding system ensuring a good rear view. Controlled by a switch in the central console, the electro-hydraulically operated system opens from fully-covered comfort to fresh air exhilaration in a swift 9 seconds. It can also be operated at speeds of up to 30km/h so if you feel those first spots of rain or those warming rays of sunshine just as you’re pulling away from the lights you can still cover up or let the outside in.

Bold rear design

Golf Cabriolet features a stylish rear tail light design with dark tinted LED tail lights. The VW badge on the boot lid houses the optional integrated Rear View Camera (RVC) while the black lower rear diffuser and exposed twin exhaust tail pipes sit below the body coloured bumper reminding you of the car’s sporting agility.

Alloy wheels

Standard on the Golf Cabriolet, stylish 17-inch ‘Seattle’ alloy wheels add a sporty elegance to the car’s sleek and contemporary lines.

Golf Cabriolet is equipped with a weight and space saving spare wheel and tyre.

Vienna Cool Leather (optional)

Normal leather heats up under the summer sun. This innovative Cool Leather option counteracts this effect with a special colour pigmentation, reflecting the infrared rays contained in the sunlight, keeping the seats cooler.

The Vienna Cool Leather Package is available in Black or special order Salsa Red and consists of Vienna Cool Leather appointed upholstery, sports front seats, individually heated front seats, front seat lumbar adjustment and storage pockets on the back of the front seats.

Integrated audio RCD310

Enjoy superior quality sound with the standard audio system featuring in-built CD player and MP3 compatibility. With 6 speakers located at optimal points around the car you’ll enjoy high quality music whether you have the roof up or down.

Multi-function steering wheel

The ergonomic design of the multi-function steering wheel offers maximum comfort and convenience allowing you to select numerous functions such as the radio and Bluetooth® without taking your hands off the steering wheel.

User-friendly Satellite Navigation System RNS510 (optional)

Responding to spoken voice commands for navigation, CD and radio functions, the touch-screen system features a 6.5-inch colour screen and 30GB hard drive for storing music and navigation information. The system also features an SD card reader, MP3 WMA and DVD compatibility and an AUX-in socket for connection to an external multimedia source such as iPod or MP3 player. So whether you take the coastal route or the mountain pass for some extra wind-in-your-hair fun, it’ll be easy to get back on the road home.

Media Device Interface (MDI) and Bluetooth®

Supplied with a USB connection cable, connect your iPod®, USB device or MP3 player to the Golf Cabriolet’s great sound system and create your own playlist for your journey. The Media Device Interface (MDI) allows audio-transfer of music files via the in-dash system without the need to input controls via the media device itself.

iPod, USB mini and 3.5mm cables are sold separately through Volkswagen Accessories.

With the Bluetooth system, make hands-free calls safely and easily. Compatible phones can communicate wirelessly with your car’s audio system and can be controlled via a separate menu on the control panel. With compatible phones your mobile’s phone book is synchronized with the car’s system allowing to elect names and call them at the touch of a button.

Airbags

With 5 airbags, the Golf Cabriolet's commitment to your safety is uncompromising. Featuring driver and front passenger airbags, as well as driver's knee airbag, the car also features side/head airbags for driver and front passenger for added protection.

Active rollover protection system

Hidden out of sight behind the rear seats, Golf Cabriolet features two roll-over protection modules that activate within a few milliseconds if required. These work in conjunction with the rigid A-pillars and roof cross member that surround the front windscreen to protect passengers in the event of a rollover.

Active safety systems

Golf Cabriolet features a range of active safety systems that work to help you keep control if road conditions demand. Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-pressure Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist and Hill Start Assist (HSA) are a series of braking systems that work in conjunction to bring you to a stop safely. Hill Start Assist is beneficial when moving off from a standstill on hills. The system holds the car momentarily, preventing it from rolling back and allowing a safe start.

Golf Cabriolet also features Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR), Electronic Differential Lock (EDL) and Electronic Stabilisation Program (ESP) which monitor power to each of the wheels, controlling and reducing power when slippage is detected to help keep you in control.

Bi-Xenon headlights with LED daytime driving light

The optional Bi-Xenon headlights illuminate the road ahead with a brighter light than conventional headlights during night time driving. The stylish integrated LED daytime driving lights are continually on, making the Golf Cabriolet more easily visible and recognisable during the day.

Integrated into the headlights, the new Golf Cabriolet also features dynamic cornering lights, illuminating the area into which you are turning, brightening the road ahead and allowing you to spot potential hazards sooner and more easily.

TSI Petrol Technology

The Golf Cabriolet’s innovative 1.4 litre twincharged petrol engine features direct injection technology, giving it excellent torque and power output combined with low fuel consumption. So whether you’re taking a short trip to the beach, cruising the boulevards with the top down or taking an interstate road trip your engine is always working to give you maximum mileage and fun.

Transmissions

Enjoy the feel of the cogs changing beneath you as you shift through the ratios of the 6-speed manual transmission. Alternatively enjoy the comfort of an automatic with the agility of a manual with the 7-speed DSG transmission. Totally unlike a conventional automatic, DSG features a dual clutch system that cleverly pre-selects your next gear, then transfers power in only 3-4/100ths of a second, this all helps produce a seamless gear change.

Rear View Camera (optional)

Available in conjunction with the satellite navigation system, the Rear View Camera (RVC) operates when reverse gear is engaged, giving you the opportunity to spot obstacles before accidentally hitting them. Displayed through the screen of the satellite navigation system, the RVC works in conjunction with the front and rear parking distance sensors to help you park safely and more easily.
